DR CRAIG MOONEY
Craig attended the University of Sydney completing a Bachelor of Science in 2011 before completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at they University of Sydney in 2015.
During his Medical degree, Craig had a keen interest in anatomy studies, performing and then teaching whole body dissection culminating in being awarded the John Irvine Hunter Prize for Anatomical prosection of the Head and Neck.
Craig completed his Intern and residence years at RPA hospital before commencing his training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. Craig has worked in Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney’s North Shore Hospital before commencing formal surgical training in Perth 2021.
Craig received his fellowship in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in 2025 and is returning to Newcastle where he will be undertaken further training in Head and Neck reconstruction and Skull Base surgery with A/Prof Eisenberg.
Craig has a strong interest in medical research, particularly in skin cancers in which he completed a Master of Philosophy at The University of Sydney in 2022 in high-risk SCC of the head and neck.
Craig has maintained a strong teaching role both in Anatomy teaching for medical and masters students, and also in the hospital setting for medical students and surgical trainees. Craig served as the National Representative for ENT trainees in Australia from 2023-2025.
Craig is excited to return to Newcastle to enjoy the beautiful beaches and coastal lifestyle. He will also be joining the John Hunter Hospital ENT department helping staff the public elective and emergency care services.
