Dr Matt Mason

Dr Matt Mason is passionate about delivering world-class care for people facing head and neck cancers. As a founding member of Konara Cancer Care, he has helped pioneer patient-centred approaches that combine cutting-edge treatment with genuine compassion. Matt’s clinical expertise is complemented by his research into the role of psychosocial support in cancer recovery—because he believes emotional and social wellbeing are just as important as medical outcomes.

He sees patients at GenesisCare, Lake Macquarie Private Hospital and GenesisCare Maitland, delivering radiation therapy to cure cancer, reduce the risk of recurrence, and alleviate symptoms to enhance patients’ quality of life.

Matt also contributes to education and leadership as a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Newcastle, an Honorary Medical Officer with Hunter New England Cancer Services, and a Councillor for the Faculty of Radiation Oncology at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.

Beyond the clinic, Matt plays an active role in the cancer care community—helping organise the Australian and New Zealand Head & Neck Cancer Society Conference locally in the Hunter in 2022 and supporting initiatives like the inaugural Head & Neck Cancer Gala in 2025.
